What companies are saying about us…
B & R Eckel's letter referencing New Swampers (past APTC Course):
- Nicholas Owen
- Brian Hazelwood
- Sean Coyle
The above referenced swampers were hired by B&R Eckel’s Transport Ltd. on April 14, 2007. They were hired based on graduation results from APTC and telephone conversations between Richard Winacott and members of our Safety Office.
The three were outfitted with appropriate PPE, given B&R orientation and briefed on work ethics, expectations and work procedures as applied to B&R.
Initially, they were put in our swamper “pool” and assigned work as required with various operators doing a wide range of tasks. These would typically include loading/unloading and securing pipe, rigging/loading various equipment, participating in drilling rig moves and suspended manbasket work. Initial response from operators was positive and all were pleased that these new workers had some initial training and were much quicker to adapt to procedures than other new hires with no training.
All three have since been paired up with an operator on a permanent basis. They are currently employed on our boom trucks working in support of well servicing at Imperial Oil Resources Ltd. – Cold Lake Operations.
This office has requested written evaluation/progress reports on them from their current operators and our on-site field supervisor. All three have scored very high in our evaluation process and they are working out extremely well.
This was the first time that we utilized APTC candidates and admittedly were skeptical on entering into such an agreement. APTC is to be commended on the level of training they are providing. If future graduates are of the caliber that Nicholas, Brian and Sean have demonstrated, then B&R would certainly entertain employing future candidates.
